摘要
The United States' National Electrical Code (NEC) has expanded Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) requirements. AFCIs are required for circuits in bedrooms and other critical areas in new houses. They detect in-line arcing and arcing between phases and between phase in neutral. They respond to digitized current signatures that characterize dangerous arcs, while ignoring arcs in appliance motors. Consumer-directed online information is also being expanded to aware about the use and benefits of AFCIs. NEC has also directed the US manufacturers of electrical panels and switching equipment to develop interrupters with high quality.
