From non-food biomass to high grade clean charcoal

Thermya is investing in a new fast way to produce Green High Carbon Content Charcoal out of non food biomass, such as agricultural or forestry waste. This bio charcoal, free of tars, being thereafter able to be used as a raw material to produce bio standard fuels. With this perspective Thermya has developed Charspyd: a new thermal process based on the DPE (Scaled Pyrolitic Distillation) principle. The DPE principle was invented by one of the founders of Thermya in the mid 90's, when developing the Chartherm process, to recycle CCA treated wood. The Charspyd process is then different from all the classical pyrolysis or thermolysis processes. The Charspyd process allows a fast and continuous production of Green High Carbon Content Charcoal, making it possible to concentrate the energy of the non food biomass on the site of its production, solving in this way the biomass transport costs problem.
