摘要
Truncation design for catenary mooring and riser system was carried out to solve the problem that the horizontal span of offshore basin was not enough for many model tests. According to the similitude of static characteristics between truncated and un-truncated systems, three methods were proposed to truncate the mooring lines. When the basin horizontal span was relatively large, only the bottom lines were truncated in method 1 and only the middle lines were truncated in method 2. When the basin horizontal span was small, both the bottom and middle lines were truncated in proportion in method 3. Since each riser was made up of one type of material, it can be truncated directly. The truncation procedures and the relations between parameters of mooring line and riser and truncation factors were determined. Truncation design for the mooring and riser system of an internal turret FPSO working in 914 m water depth and coupled analysis in time domain were performed. The results of static characteristics and global response and mooring forces were found to agree well with those of the un-truncated mooring system and available past model test results, which proved that the truncation design was reasonable and acceptable.
