Effects of cage on vibration characteristics of full ceramic ball bearing under cryogenic working condition

Here, to investigate effects of cage on vibration characteristics of full ceramic ball bearing under cryogenic working condition, theoretical and test studies were conducted for silicon nitride full ceramic ball bearing under cryogenic working condition. Vibration signal characteristics of full ceramic ball bearings equipped with different material cages were tested and analyzed. The study results showed that vibration characteristics of cage are similar to contribution featural frequencies of its stress state with main components of cage feature frequency fc, frequency doubling of ceramic ball feature frequency fh, frequency doubling of inner ring feature frequency fx and coupling feature frequencies between cage and inner ring; by changing axial load and test temperature, vibration speeds of full ceramic ball bearings equipped with polymer based and bakelite cages are lower than those of full ceramic ball bearings equipped with carbon fiber composite material cages; however, kurtosis values of full ceramic ball bearings equipped with carbon fiber composite material cages are lower than those of full ceramic ball bearings equipped with bakelite and polymer based composite material cages, i.e., for signal stability and reducing fault probability of full ceramic ball bearings, carbon fiber composite materials are superior to bakelite and polymer based composite materials; the study results have certain reference and lesson values for choosing full ceramic ball bearing cages under cryogenic working condition. © 2024 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.
