摘要
The flow properties of solid dangerous goods play an important role in safety when transporting dangerous goods. These have an impact on both the mechanical safety of the packaging used and the release of solid substances under normal transport conditions due to insufficient sift-proofness. Solid dangerous goods can be either powdery or granular substances. In order to take into account the safety-relevant importance of the flow properties of solid filling goods, the minimum angle of repose for which the packaging may be used must be specified in the German approvals for dangerous goods packaging. However, in practice at test centers there are a number of measurement methods for this parameter. In the past, it was unclear which of these methods were generally suitable for which test products. However, it is essential to know the advantages and disadvantages as well as the limitations of each procedure. This article provides an introduction to the topic and experimental studies that were carried out at BAM to clarify the issue. The results of these experiments will be presented in a follow-up article. © 2024, VDI Fachmedien GmBH & Co. KG. All rights reserved.
