摘要:
Materials suppliers are working together to reduce the rise in greenhouse emissions from transporting materials and to pre-empt state regulation. The growth of western-style consumerism in emerging markets in Asia and elsewhere has led to increased transportation of raw materials, recycled materials and finished products. New fuels, such as the development of hydrogen fuel cells could significantly help, but they are still in the initial development phase. The Quarry Products Association (QPA) will be working with its stakeholders to develop a voluntary protocol to reduce the environmental impacts of the delivery of quarry products to construction clients. This protocol will involve identifying and reducing the number of deliveries undertaken at peak times, which will reduce the number of vehicles stuck in congestion, and in turn decrease the overall emissions in moving the same quantity of materials. The protocol will also enable parties to identify and share the resulting environmental and economic benefits.
