Dictionary services and spelling aids for web searching

A dictionary technology, used in various applications such as orthographic verification, writing aid, natural-language processing and information storage and retrieval is developed. The dictionary vocabulary derived from SIS and other databases and specialized resources, such as NLM' Unified Medical Language Systems. The entries contain single alphabetic strings, compound words, hyphenated nouns and acronyms. The dictionary access code can be invoked using Visual Basic, C Language or Java interfaces. Vocabulary list, word attributes and a set of programs can be used in spelling verifications, spelling aid, part-of-speech tagging, paraphrasing and other natural-language processing functions.
