A finite element simulation on the hydro-mechanical deep-draw forming process for the outer panel of aluminum alloy car door is conducted to analyze the effects of hydraulic pressure loading path on the stiffness and thinning ratio of panel, with the simulation model and hydraulic pressure loading path optimized. The results show that postponing hydraulic pressure loading and reducing forming pressure can increase the stiffness of outer closure parts and lowering the cracking risk in the corner of punch, while advancing hydraulic pressure loading and increasing forming pressure can be conducive to the forming of concave surface features. © 2017, Society of Automotive Engineers of China.
