The two big Nordic publication papermakers, Finland's UPM-Kymmene and Norway's Norske Skog both refuse to comment on rumors about possible merger. A combination of the two companies would be a world powerhouse in publication papers, with <11 million tpy capacity, excluding non-publication grades. Combined turnover, based on figures for 2000, would be equivalent to about $11.7 billion.
