On the co-cementation and oxidation resisitance of Zn-Al slurry coatings

Zn-Al co-cementation could reduce the aluminized temperature, relieve the workpiece deformation, and significantly increase the steel resistance of high-temperature oxidation and corrosion. A type of slurry coatings of Zn-Al co-cementation on carbon steel was proposed. In order to determine the optimal doping, various contents of aluminide in slurry were used in the process of Zn-Al co-cementation. The characteristics of coatings were analyzed with such methods as XRD, SEM and EDS. The results showed that Al contents in slurry play an important role in the process of Zn-Al co-cementation. When Al content is around 6%~8%, Zn-Al coatings will display excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance. ©, 2014, Northeastern University. All right reserved.
