The capability of hydrocarbon-oxidizing strains of oligonitrogentrophic microorganisms to utilize the hydrocarbons of diesel fuel with an addition of nitrogen and with the limited content of nitrogen ('starting' dozes) and to fix atmospheric nitrogen was investigated. It was established that bacterial strains Azotobacter sp. 2, Rhodococcus sp. 4, and Pseudomonas rathonis 5 are characterized by nitrogenase activity. It is shown that the nitrogen fixation occurs more efficiently in the association of microorganisms than in monocultures.
