摘要
A low-friction fluoropolymer-based coating was used to reduce polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit balling. PDC bits drilling with oil-based mud (OBM) or synthetic-based mud (SBM) set the performance standard for drilling shales, especially in deep high-pressure wells. The new coating technique combined all the nonstick properties of Teflon with greatly improved durability and an enhanced ability to adhere to a base surface.
