Influence of workpiece's size on the structure and performance of grinding-hardened layer

Based on the experiment of two-way plane grinding-hardening machine, this paper studied the influence of workpiece's height size and grinding parameter on the microstructure, micro-hardness and hardening depth of grinding-hardened layer. The results show that under this experimental condition, workpiece's height size has no substantial influence on grinding-hardening. but while the height size increased, the micro-hardness and hardening depth's average value of completely hardened zone presents trend of saddle type. The workpiece's quality of grinding-hardening can be improved by adopting reasonable workpiece's height size.
