摘要
With the growing public interest in energy conservation and environmental protection, the Energy Efficiency Office (EEO) of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) is actively exploring means to reduce energy consumption in buildings and a series of initiatives are being implemented to achieve the goal. One of the initiatives is to investigate the possibility of adopting T5 lamps and luminaries for office lighting. T5 lamps are new version of fluorescent lamps designed to optimise energy consumption and to minimise impact to our environment. This paper will present a report of the technical background, results of our case studies and our future research interests in office lighting using T5 lamps. Recommendation would also be made for the wider use of T5 lamps and luminaries in all future projects and major retrofit works in Hong Kong.
