摘要：
Generation of standards for the design of structures for earthquake resistance is discussed. Seismic isolation techniques and mechanical energy dissipating devices are developed and used for buildings and bridges. The use of precast concrete in buildings and the assessment and upgrading of earthquake resistance of existing older structures was discussed.
