Based on the analysis of broken rock structure, the relation between broken rock strength and its different structures was discussed, and some useful results were obtained. The research shows that the magnitude and direction of inner stresses on the broken surface of a rock sample are different from those of the stresses on the boundary of the rock sample and change with loading stresses, and the strength of broken rock is determined by inner stress on the broken surface and loading stresses on a rock block. Rock usually fails along the broken surface, but sometimes it may fail across the rock block. A new method which can be united with the normal method was given.
