New millennium starts well for forestry shares

The past month was a very good period for shareholders in forestry and paper companies. The FT index for the sector showed an average increase of 8%. The catalyst behind this good start to the year has been good demand for forest products as well as strengthening prices. Consequently, it was some of the largest paper producers which benefited most over the past month.
