Tensorial analysis of the long-range interaction between metastable alkaline-earth-metal atoms was carried out. Adiabatic potential-energy curves were obtained by numerically diagonalizing the Hamiltonian matrix. The scattering length in the potential well in metastable strontium was tuned by varying the external magnetic-field strength.
