Research on the configuration scheme of signal equipment for locomotive traction trains operating on the passenger dedicated railway line

Research purposes: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the special transportation demands lines required by some of the operating locomotive traction passenger trains in the passenger dedicated lines. After examining the compatibility scheme of the train control system and the configuration scheme of the trackside signal equipment, this paper proposes the matching interface requirements for the platforms and the effective length of tracks. Research conclusions: (1) Compared to the method and technique of using CTCS-2 on board equipment, the method of setting additional trackside signal is more mature and convenient, which can satisfy the special transportation demands lines required by some of the operating locomotive traction passenger trains in the passenger dedicated lines. (2) When the effective length of track is 650 m, exit signal should be place 5 m away from the fouling post. (3) If CTCS-2 on board equipment is adopted by the locomotive, when the effective length of track is 650 m, the marshalling length of locomotive traction trains should be restricted, and the structure and setting location of exit signal machine, as well as installations such as Balise and platforms should be configured based on the passenger dedicated line standards. (4) It suggests to modify the construction clearance of the dwarf exit signal machine for the passenger dedicated line to satisfy the signal machine installation requirements; if locomotive traction trains are to be operated in the CTCS-3 section, double mechanism exit signal machine with calling-on signal should be adopted to meet the function requirements of the departure calling-on mode. (5) The research conclusions can provide references for the signal engineering design of passenger dedicated railway lines. ©, 2014, Editorial Department of Journal of Railway Engineering Society.
