The effect of surface oxide layer on the electropolishing process

摘要
Using high-intensity illumination of copper, brass and German Silver during their electropolishing, in the limiting current density region, results in increased anodic current densities and reduces the relative levelling at the surface. The magnitude of these photocurrents is proportional to the thickness of the oxide layer present. The electrolyte used was 11.9 M phosphoric acid.
