Stora Enso has rebuilt PM 5 at its Corbehem mill in northern France to increase the unit's lightweight coated (LWC) paper capacity from 250,000 tonnes/yr to 305,000 tonnes/yr. The project also increased the machine's maximum operating speed from 1,200 m/min to 1,500 m/min and improved the quality of paper produced. Stora Enso has shelved plans to commission a fifth gas boiler for Corbehem's back-up power plant and these facility was set to become the site's main power plant toward the end of 2006. The company is forging ahead with a restructuring program at the Corbehem through, which it launched in the year 2003 to secure the site's long term competitiveness.
