摘要
Effects of reduced-pressure treatment on partial functional properties of chitosan was investigated in this work. Chitosan was exposed to 100 W reduced-pressure plasma for 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 s and then its variations in solubility, molecular weight, rheological properties, thermal stability, functional group and crystallinity were determined. The results indicated that plasma treatment increased the solubility of chitosan in pH 6.5 solution and the solubility increased along with exposure duration elongation, but decreased chitosan solubility in mild alkaline solutions. Short-time exposure to plasma boosted the viscosity and molecular weight of chitosan, but as the exposure duration reached 200 s or higher, chitosan decomposition occurred. Plasma treatment did not alter the thixotropy of chitosan, but changed its viscoelastic properties. DSC and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that exposure to plasma reduced the thermal stability and destroyed the crystallinity of chitosan, while FTIR indicated no changes in functional groups. © 2018, Editorial Office of Journal of CIFST.
