Since stuff balancing is the basic operational requirement of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers, an analysis of stuff balancing in CFB boilers is here presented from the design point of view. For meeting stuff balancing requirements of CFB boilers, circulatable material of a certain size-range has to be added to fuels of low ash content. The necessity of circulation material during normal operation has been studied and analyzed, focusing on some ways of calculating the required amount of material that should be added.
