As can the be primary quantified component by characterizing of asphalt the mixtures migration ,the of influence particles of in aggregates the mixture. morphology Study on the and migration particle sizes of different on the asphalt aggregates mixture in the performance mixture is significant for analysis meso-structural of mixture changes as well as predicting the deformation distresses of pavement. Presently,improvements are still required when it comes to the systematic research on the methods of characterizing aggregates migration with different morphology and sizes. In order to review the research methods and evaluation indexes of different aggregates migration conveniently,the traditional test,image and numerical simulation methods that characterize the morphology and particle sizes of aggregates are summarized in this paper. From the aspects of digital image processing,sensors and discrete element methods,the applicable scope of existing different test equipment and software algorithm to track aggregates migration and distribution characteristics are compared. In order to further explore the movement law of aggregate particles in the mixture,seventeen indexes combined with evaluation methods are used to quantify the migration characteristics of aggregates in the asphalt mixture tests,such as spatial displacement,spatial rotation angle,and others. Finally,the future research methods and evaluation indexes of meso-structure of asphalt mixtures are prospected,based on the disadvantages of the existing methods and indexes to characterize and evaluate the migration of different aggregates. © 2024 Cailiao Daobaoshe/ Materials Review.
