The reports on Surface Inspection Summit 2003 from Malaysian Newsprint Industries (MNI) are presented. The MNI plant is in Mentakab which has power plants, recycling plants, paper machines, fishing department and effluent water treatment plant. The commissioning of the plant has resulted in reduced web breaks, improved runnability and reduced customer complaints. It is observed that the Parsytec system fits into the quality control system and correlates paper quality with paper defects through the Voith InfoPac System.
