Preparation and characterization of polyaniline/cerium dioxide composite powder

In this paper, cerium oxide powder was prepared with cerium nitrate and citric acid as main materials in a thermostatic bath at 65°C for 24 h, dried in a drying oven at 120°C for 2 h and heated in a muffle furnace at 500°C for 2 hours. Polyaniline/CeO2 composite particles were prepared by chemical synthesis method. Size distribution of CeO2 powder and polyaniline/ CeO2 composite particles was determined by laser particle sizer. The particle shape of CeO2 powder and polyaniline/CeO2 composite was characterized by SEM. The results indicated that cerium oxide powder was irregular in shape and its size distribution was normal. Polyaniline/CeO2 composite was also irregular in shape and the size distribution was multimodal.
