What Technical Assistance Does AWWA Offer for Capacity Development?

AWWA's Small Systems Policy Committee created a program that would benefit small systems called the Capacity Assistance Program. It consists of performing a self-assessment to reveal strong points as well as areas that need improvement. A training workshop is then held to train the trainer who visits small utilities to complete a workbook checklist with them. The workbook, which includes everything that was identified and addressed during the assessment, stays with the utility for future reference. The goal of the program is to confirm that the utility is prepared for the future Safe Drinking Water regulations and to supply safe drinking water to its customers. © 2002 American Water Works Association.
