摘要
Current research shows that the tool life of cutting tools in machining steel can be increased up to 100 % by means of an adapted cutting edge geometry. The optimal cutting edge rounding depends on the machining conditions and workpiece material. A method for the optimal design of the cutting edge for the machining of different steel grades is currently being developed at the IFW Hannover. The aim is to provide an industrially usable method which increases the tool performance in steel machining. © Carl Hanser Verlag GmbH & Co. KG.
