The temperature distribution on the depth of boundary layer under vacuum-plasma heating the metal melt

Axial distribution of temperature in discharge boundary area is established on the base of recently made spectral investigation of plasma discharge in the process of metals melting in gas atmosphere (Ar, Ar+N; P=65 Pa). A logarithmic dependence of gas temperature on the distance from melted surface la (Tgas=TMe+algla) was obtained. The metal temperature value is 2300-2700 K, while gas temperature in the upper boundary area is 3400-4500 K.
