The author Francis L. Brannigan discusses some of the protective measures during the building fires. A building of ordinary construction adjacent to a fire-resistive high-rise can be a great exposure hazard to its neighbour. It is suggested that the if the exposed building is sprinklered, sprinkler heads along the windows can be activated by the careful use of a hook. Firegfighters should know how to start the pump if there is one.
