Design of a telecardiology monitoring terminal based on mobile communication

In order to provide a telecardiology service to patients in real-time mode, which are not affected by any factors, such as time and place, a design of a mobile monitoring terminal is proposed. Many mobile terminals and monitoring center compose a telecardiology system to implement teleconsultation and telemonitoring. The terminal consists of four modules; electrocardiograph (ECG) acquiring and processing module, master MCU module, power module and wireless module. Moreover, the algorithm of ECG analysis and compression rooted in DSP, and the data transferring program according to TCP/IP protocols stack rooted in MCU are designed. So the terminal has functions such as ECG acquisition/analysis, wireless data transfer and voice/short message communication. According to the test, performances of the terminal fulfill the predetermined design aims.
