A representation of time-dependent Hamiltonians describing laser-driven systems was discussed. The approach provided a time-averaged potential that depended explicitly on the field parameters and the shape of laser pulse. The second order high-frequency perturbation calculations provided quite accurately the lifetime of photoionized electron for a braod range of laser frequencies.
