The development of brake-by-wire bearing systems by the SKF Automotive and its impact on the automobile sector was discussed. SKF developed a complete electo-mechanical actuation unit which takes the company into the areas of clutch and shift-by-wire. An overview of SKF maintenance-free hub unit for trucks and trailers was also presented.
