Precautions against fire and explosion

As production processes become ever more complex, so does the number of chemicals and materials employed, increase. In addition, new legislation continues to emerge which demands the replacement of well-understood and widely used chemicals or materials with alternatives, whose properties and behaviour may not always be fully understood. This can create a danger arising from the use of, or handling of, hazardous, inflammable or low flash-point materials. Risks of this kind cannot always be predicted and handling procedures may only with hindsight be seen to have been inappropriate. Prudent management will thus ensure that all personnel involved with such materials are fully trained.
