摘要
Since several years the weight and cost reduction is a topical subject of the automotive industry. Against this background of increasing safety requirements Thyssen Umformtechnik + Guss has developed a new side intrusion beam concept. In comparison to currently used tubes, aluminum extrusions or hot formed components, this concept is using the ultra high strength material MSW1200 cold formed without additional heat treatment. Component strengths up to 1450 N/mm2 can be realized which guarantees excellent crash performance. In comparison to other concepts high cost- and weight savings can be achieved. Also a B-pillar reinforcement made of complex phase steel CP800 shows the advantages of ultra high strength materials for crash relevant body parts.
