A simple method, based on higher-order cumulants, is proposed for the recognition of Orthogonal Space-time Block Code (STBC). Considering the impact of channel, we propose a method of signals whitening without estimating the channel state information. This method eliminates the channel interference for the recognition. It not only reduces the complexity of the algorithm, but also improves recognition probability ratio of Orthogonal STBC in low SNR. We use higher-order cumulants (of order greater than 2) to eliminate the impact of noise. We analyze the two fourth-order cumulants, and select the more suitable fourth-order cumulants as Characteristic parameters for the recognition. Simulation results show that the proposed method for blind recognition of Orthogonal STBC has good performance. © 2016, Chinese Institute of Electronics. All right reserved.
