Design criteria used in selecting and designing vertical turbine pump systems is discussed. The design must include capacity, total head, horsepower, submergence, thrust, suction conditions, well diameter, water levels, driver type and speed factors which are unique to pump construction method. The selection of lubrication method is also an important part of the design.
