The Halewood factory of Ford is expected to begin output of the XC40, after it starts rooling Land Rover Freelander in late 2006. The factory is one of the Ford's best when it comes to lean manufacturing. Many decisions that are taken here to raise levels of efficiency are taken in front of the customers. Value stream mapping is an another innovation at Halewood, it uses pictures to illustrate the flow of components.
