Comparative analysis on measured wind characteristics of typical typhoons at Sutong bridge

In order to investigate the features and differences of wind characteristics of typhoon in different regions, a comparative study on the wind characteristics of typhoon whether the typhoon eyes passing by the bridge site or not is carried out based on 72 h measured wind samples of Kalmaegi and Haikui at Sutong bridge. First, the mean wind speeds and the mean wind directions of these two kinds of typhoon are compared by the vector decomposition method. Then, the turbulence intensities, the gust factors and the turbulence integral scales of these two kinds of typhoon are calculated, and the nonlinear relationship between the gust factors and the turbulence intensities as well as the probability density of the turbulence integral scales are fitted by using the least square method. Finally, the turbulence power spectral densities of these two kinds of typhoon are calculated, and compared with the spectral model recommended by the specification. The analytical results indicate that when the measurement field is closer to the typhoon center, the turbulence intensity and the gust factor are larger while the turbulence integral scale is smaller. There is a strong correlation between the gust factor and the turbulence intensity. The power spectral density is related to the mean wind speed and the turbulence intensity. There is a certain deviation between the measured wind characteristics of these two kinds of typhoon and the recommended values by the specification. © 2018, Editorial Department of Journal of Southeast University.
