The development of auditory and cross-modal displays for assistive technology

摘要：
We survey the development of auditory displays as assistive technology for visually impaired users. Both single user and collaborative, cross-modal applications are discussed. The systems and design issues covered include desktop and mobile contexts. We conclude that audio in assistive technology displays has much untapped potential. © 2013 Society for Information Display.
