Influence of visual information on auditory impression for indoor sound fields in relation with incongruity between visual and auditory sense

The purpose of this study is to clarify the influence of visual information from room interior on auditory impression for indoor sound field, and to acquire knowledge which contributes to architectural acoustic design. In this report, auditory impressions and incongruity were measured when auditory stimuli (room impulse responses) and visual stimuli (virtual reality images of room interior) were presented to subjects individually (in single-modal presentation) or simultaneously (in multi-modal presentation). As a result, changes of auditory impression were observed when presentation mode was altered, but relationship of the changes with incongruity between auditory and visual stimuli could not be detected. © 2018 Architectural Institute of Japan.
