Mass transfer model of ozone oxidation treatment of trinitrotoluene alkaline wastewater in a rotating packed bed

On the basis of the prophase experimental study, a contacting volumetric mass transfer model of physical absorption of ozone by vitriol solution and a contacting volumetric mass transfer model of chemical absorption of ozone by trinitrotoluene (TNT) alkaline wastewater were set up in a rotating packed bed. The calculation results indicate that the mass-transfer coefficient of the physical absorption is 0.0191 s-1; the mass-transfer coefficient of the chemical absorption reaches 0.258 s-1 that is much higher than that in bubble tower (0.005 88-0.017 s-1) and the efficiency of ozone gets 93% at the beginning of the reaction. However, the mass-transfer coefficient is decreased with the prolonging of reaction time and finally approaches the physical absorption. The models can provide a theoretic basis for industrial production.
