摘要
Latest study on biodiesel focused on performance of single biodiesel and its blends with diesel. The current research makes an effort to examine the potential of the application of mixtures of two biodiesel and its blends with diesel as a fuel for diesel engines. Biodiesels are prepared from the vegetable oils of pongamiapinnata oil, cotton seed oil and neem oil through transesterification method.Utilising the above biodiesels, three sets of double biodiesel blends namely DPC (diesel- pongamiapinnata biodiesel-cotton seed biodiesel), DPN (diesel- pongamiapinnata biodiesel-neem biodiesel) and DNC (diesel- neem biodiesel- cotton seed biodiesel) are developed. The above three sets of double biodiesel blends are investigated and examined experimentally with six different combinations. From the experimental results, DPN 1, DPN 2 and DPN 3 are better than other blends. For the maximum brake power, specific fuel consumption and thermal efficiency of DPN blends are close to the diesel values. DPN blends give lower hydro carbon emission and carbon monoxide emission than DPC blends, DNC blends and diesel. The smoke opacity values of DPN 1, DPN 2 and DPN 3 are lower than diesel. This is a considerable advantage over diesel while using the DPN dual biodiesel blends. DPN blends give better engine characteristics than DPC and DNC blends. The blends of DPN are suitable alternative fuel for diesel in stationary diesel engines. © Sila Science. All Rights Reserved.
