Reactor coolant average temperature control system is a safety important I&C sytem and plays a significant role in the normal operation of the nuclear power plant (NPP). Control system simulation study and control parameters optimization design shall be performed to guarantee the good control performance of the control system during the normal operation of NPP and to decrease the on-site commissioning time. Based on the analysis of the function of the reactor coolant average temperature control system of the third generation nuclear power Hualong I, the structure of the control system is given, and the interrelated factors of the control channel are explained. Then, sensitivity analysis of the control parameters is carried out through system modeling and simulation using the nuclear power plant digital simulation tools. According to the static and dynamic response characteristics of the system with different parameters, a set of optimal control parameters is finally determined. The obtained control parameters have been used in the design of the average temperature control system for the first reactor of Hualong I in China, which can guide the on-site commissioning and operation of the nuclear power plant. © 2018, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press.
