The rotor position decoding was studied in this paper for controlling the permanent magnetic synchronous machine (PMSM) of the forklift steer-by-wire system based on the four-line resolver and the chip AD2S1200. Firstly, an amplifying circuit was designed to amplify and filter the sine wave signal of the chip AD2S1200, and this signal was used for the sine excitation signal of resolver. The single-ended output signal of rotary transformer is a sine and cosine signal with angle information. Then, this signal was processed into a differential-mode input signal needed by the chip AD2S1200 through the conditioning circuit. The angle information processed by interface circuit also was obtained by the DSP chip MC56F8367 of Freescale. And a digital filtering method was applied to process the angle information. Finally, the PMSM rotor position was obtained exactly. The experiment results show that the decoding angle has the characteristics of good accuracy, smooth waveform and excellent real-time performance, and it can meet the demand of PMSM motor control of forklift Steer-by-Wire system. © 2015, The editorial office of Transaction of China Electrotechnical Society.
