Interference of a hard-core boson gas on a ring

The quantum dynamics of a one-dimensional gas of hard-core bosons on a ring was studied. The investigation of interference that resulted when an initially trapped gas localized on one side of the ring was released, split via an optical-dipole grating, and recombined on the other side of the ring was done. It was found that large visibility interference fringes arose when the wave vector of the optical-dipole grating was larger than the effective Fermi wave vector of the initial gas.
