An overview on the use of food scraps to power an ultra-cheap bacteria-driven battery was presented. Inside a Walkman-size battery, a colony of E.coli battery produced enzymes that broke down carbohydrates, releasing hydrogen atoms. The cell also contained chemicals that drove a series of reduction and oxidation reactions.
