North American newsprint producers are in the process of pushing prices from an unusually deep trough, adjusted for inflation. Although prices have risen by more than 10% from the cyclical bottom, several newsprint companies are struggling financially. Without vastly improved product management and a new way of pricing the product, producers and consumers alike face a world in which paper suppliers are increasingly unable to supply quality products at a low cost.
