摘要
In order to design the main lane width of expressway confluence area and improve vehicles travelling safety, a method of adjusting the main lane width in confluence area was proposed. Firstly, based on the measured average velocity and velocity standard deviation data, combined with the existing research and theoretical model of lane width, lane width-accident rate models of inner lane and middle lane were constructed by using statistical methods. Then, safety thresholds of inner lane and middle lane were determined by K-means clustering method, and the method of adjusting the main lane width was determined. Finally, combined with the control variable method, two cases of lane width 5.0 m and body width 2.5 m were analyzed. Results show that within reasonable speed limit, lane width increases with the increase of speed, body width decreases with the increase of speed, and when the body width does not exceed 3.0 m and 3.5 m respectively, the safety of the corresponding inner lane and middle lane is relatively high. © 2021 Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
