摘要
As a miniature specimen testing technology, small punch test (SPT) has a broad development potential in evaluating the performance deterioration of equipment and materials in petrochemical industry. A method for evaluating fracture toughness of materials by SPT through notches is proposed. Taking X80 high-grade pipeline steel as the target material, the small punch test is carried out to evaluate the fracture toughness of materials. First of all, a through type prefabricated notch specimen is designed and the small punch test is carried out. Secondly, the finite element simulation of the through type prefabricated notch specimen is performed while the model was modified with the test data. And the optimal size of the notched specimen was determined. Finally the J-integral of each contour is obtained by contour integral method and the critical fracture toughness JC(SP) of small punch test is determined by the crack initiation displacement. Meanwhile, the JC value of material is obtained by standard SENB three-point bending test. Finally, the relationship between JC and JC(SP) of the high-grade pipeline steel was established by using the proposed method with the notched SPT specimen. © 2022 Editorial Office of Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
